Scotland is a country with some of the most spectacular and magnificent scenery in the world, there are numerous mountains for climbing and lochs to admire throughout the country. It is also well known for its excellent selection of single malts, the best whiskeys in the world are made here.

Whatever your reason for visiting this magnificent country one thing you will require during your stay is accommodation. Some trips can be spoiled by choosing the wrong place to stay and so I have listed some of the best hotels in Scotland to stay in. There are many great hotels throughout the country but I have tried to select hotels that are in different regions of Scotland, after all there is so much to see and do in the country you will of course want to move around and therefore require accommodation in different places.

The Balmoral Hotels is situated in the city centre of Edinburgh on the world famous Princes Street, it is widely regarded as the best hotel in Edinburgh and it is certainly one of the top hotels in Scotland. The rooms offer spacious and luxurious accommodation with some great views of Edinburgh.

2. Inverlochy Castle -nr Fort William

This luxurious castle hotel has only 12 rooms, all of which are suites. The hotel is rated is one of the top hotels in Europe and its location is spectacular, nested among trees in the beautiful Highland region of Scotland. This hotel is widely regarded as one of the best in Scotland, a must visit location.

3. The Old Course Hotel – St Andrews

No visit to Scotland would be complete without playing some golf and where better than the most famous golf course in the world the Old Course.
